Interpretations was recorded three years after Still Picture and is quite different in style. My initial inspiration this time was the music of Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter around the late '60s and early '70s. I put together a seven-piece line-up of top London jazz musicians for the project, and all the material was recorded in one single session at Eastcote Studios in West London.
Review Quotes
"Crooning, closely harmonised horn arrangements, the occasional utilisation of the fender rhodes (impeccably played by Liam Noble, who is characteristically terse and vigorous throughout), shifting rhythms and floating, haunting melodies are the hallmarks of this music, but it is the commitment and skill of the youthful band that really impress... Strongly recommended." Chris Parker, Jazz Review Magazine
